American trap shooting is popular throughout the United States.  Official events and rules are governed by the Amateur Trapshooting Association or ATA.  The ATA sanctions registered trap shooting and competitions at the Middletown Sportsmen’s Club (MSC).

The MSC has 20 trap fields which are lit for evening shooting.  The trap fields offer single and double traps and are open for shooting during club hours.  Registered target shooting is available all day on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The MSC offers a variety of trap shooting events including the Mid-American in May and the Fall Festival in September of every year.  From October through May, there is a 50-Bird Handicap Shoot on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.  The ‘Board of Shooters’ is sold at 2:00 p.m. every Saturday afternoon.  The AK 50-Bird Shoot is held the second Sunday of every month from noon to 5:30.
